Steigenberger expands Managing Board
After two years of consolidation the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotels AG is expanding its managing board. André Witschi (56) will become the Chairman of the Managing Board as of February 1, 2008 with responsibility for Corporate Development, Operations and Corporate Communication. Karl Anton Schattmaier will be the Deputy Chairman in the future, and alongside his tasks as Personnel Director will also be responsible for Group Marketing, Groups Sales, Human Resources and Environment. The area of Finances and Controlling continues to be headed by Matthias Heck.
With the appointment of André Witschi Steigenberger has been able to acquire one of the best-known representatives of the hotel sector in Europe to look after the significant areas of operations and expansion. After 15 years at Mövenpick Witschi was responsible at Accor in various functions in Europe for a number of brands. From 2003 onwards as the Chairman of the Management he headed Accor Hotellerie Deutschland GmbH in Munich with some 350 hotels. Witschi, Master of Business Administration, is a member of the Administrative Board of DZT, the German Central Office for Tourism; is a member of the executive committee of DEHOGA, the German Hotel and Restaurant Federation; a member of BTW, the German Federation for the Tourism Industry; a member of the board of IHA, the international hotel federation Germany; as well as a member of the board of trustees of Lausanne School of Hotel Management.
“With André Witschi we have been able to win international group experience for the long-standing German company Steigenberger so as to ensure the future expansion of the company,” stresses Dr. Ralf Corsten, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company, which is owned to 99.6 percent by the Steigenberger family.
